Nevis is a small island dominated by a volcano whose graceful slopes fall into the tropical jungle, where ancient stone houses coexist with the luxurious residences of the owners of sugar cane plantations, whose wealth was usually envied by the European high society of the time. In Charlestown you will be able to appreciate the churches, bridges, forts and houses with wood balconies in an idyllic colonial environment.
Regarding its coasts, Nevis has some of the quietest beaches in the Caribbean, because mass tourism has not yet reached it. They are surrounded by magnificent natural scenery: woods with lush flora and fauna, where monkeys benefit from the green foliage and fields planted with fruit and flowers.
One of the most beautiful beaches is Pinney´s Beach, a 3-mile stretch abounding in pelicans, which make the place special.
ACCOMMODATION AND THINGS TO DO
Nevis does not have great hotels, so the best option is to stay in one of the beautiful villas of the former plantations.
Enjoying the thermal baths at the Bath Hotel, opened in 1778, is one of the relaxing activities you can choose to do after a long day sightseeing.
We also recommend visiting the last distillery which produced rum on the island, the New River State, where you will see the machinery and chimneys of this imposing building.
At night, Nevis offers good entertainment facilities in a charming atmosphere, though it does not have all the technology and raving of other islands near the Caribbean.
HOW AND WHEN TO GO
You can arrive by plane connecting with Anguilla or Saint Kitts.
Any time of the year is appropriate for visiting Nevis, although it is much cheaper if you go between May and November.
