Jost Van Dyke is the tiniest island of the British Virgin Islands, has a population of 150 and his name came from a famous Dutch pirate that used to came to the island. This island did not have electricity until 1997, and its population use generators or solar panels.
The island is only 4 miles long, but it is world famous for the beauty of its beaches and for the casual lifestyle. Among the beaches in Jost Van Dyke, White Bay Beach is for sure the most amazing one. With his silky white sands, crystalline water and protected by extensive reefs, this beach is a very popular destination for boaters. In fact, one of the most famous parties in the Caribbean has place in this small island, when in New Year`s Eve all the sailors go to the Foxy Bar. Besides, the island is the finish line for the Caribbean 1500 Ocean Race.
But what make Jost Van Dyke so special are the beautiful views, the safety and the simplicity of the place, where you can be in a natural Jacuzzi like "the bubbly pool" during the whole day and go to excellent pubs and restaurants at night.
HOTELS AND FLIGHTS - HOW TO GO AND WHERE TO STAY
There are no major hotels to stays in Jost Van Dyke, and that contributes a lot to the beauty of the place. So you will have to stay in some of the beautiful village and cottage that exist in the island like the Seaside Cottage and Hillside Villas.
From the U.S. the easiest way is to fly to St. Thomas, and for that you should check US Airways, Delta, Continental and American Airlines.
If you are coming from Canada or Europe it will probably easy to go to San Juan, Puerto Rico and from there pick another flight to Saint Thomas. Air Canada will be a good option if coming from Canda and British Airways if you are coming from U.K.
Once in St. Thomas you have daily boat rides direct to Jost Van Dyke for very reasonable prices.

DIVING AND SNORKELLING - Jost Van Dyke is a perfect place for diving and snorkeling and ranks between the best diving destinations in the world. All the companies offering excursions in this island are secure.
FISHING - Excellent conditions for fishing. Most common sea species are: Kingfisg, Dolphin Fish, and Tuna.
SAILING - The British Virgin Islands in general are considered the best water for sailing, and Jost Van Dyke is not an exception.
